My Relationship With Media

Most of us don't realize media takes part of our every day lives, and how it may influence our decisions.
I don't usually watch the news, but if I do, it's because my mom is watching them. Although I always have newspapers at my house, I never read all the way through them. The newspapers usually are The New York Times or The Sac Bee. I read about the news on the Internet or on apps like Snapchat.
I watch TV when I get home from school, depending on how much homework I have. There was a time when all I used to watch were documentaries or movies based on historical events, but now, I have expanded what I watch. I usually go on Netflix and watch a couple of episodes of my favorite shows or movies.
I never read magazines because I never see any that I am interested in. Most of the magazines that I see only have celebrities on their covers, and I don't care about celebrities, so I don't even open them to see if it has contents that will actually interest me. If I do open up magazines, it would be magazines like Time or National Geographic ones, but I never actually buy them. However, I do read a lot of books. Besides reading the books that are required for our literature class, I read other books that I am interested in during my free time. I like reading about other cultures. I get to stand in other people's shoes and see their struggles and achievements. It opens our eyes about conflicts, customs, and tradition from all over the world, which I think is extraordinary.
I only listen to the radio when I'm in a car, and I use it to listen to music. If I want to listen to music when I'm at home or anywhere else, I go on Spotify or Youtube.
It's safe to say that the media plays a major role in my life, and in many other people's lives.
